American Freight Logisitcs and the Countless Lies

So I begin to count all the lies said by either Khalid and Sarah of American Freight Logistics.

  1. Falsified Invoices
  2. Lack of information or withholding Info about customs or transport
  3. Would not provide their custom license number
  4. false dates- Sarah said, last free date for warehouse was 8/25 when it was 8/26
  5. up marking all the fees for a really large cut.  storage free $100/day, I called the facility and they said it was only $20 a day.
  6. Lying about the truck being their to pick up the goods and long lines at the warehouse, I called the warehouse and they said, it's completely empty
  7. Telling me that my items were oversized and that it would cost extra- the dimensions of the boxes/ crates were not more than 5 ft in height or length (it was only 7 CBM)
  8. kept on pushing the delivery date off - they couldnt figure out their processes, it arrived at the warehouse on the 22nd, I didn't get it until the 30th- had given up all hope that i would ever get to see my stuff again.
  9. best of all, after we solved for many of the above issue- they told me that i did not pay for door-to-door delivery (which i did)  and that this delivery is a "favor" they are doing to me and I would need to hire people to pull the crates off.  They also told me that there are laws on where trucks can go and the truck of this size needed permissions to drive on the street- It felt like i was getting a portable home shipped to my house now. (this is when Khalid reminded me that I'm now in America, not Pakistan...hahaha) The truck that came to my house was the size of a uHaul...lol, had no idea it needed special permits.
  10. I had hired help from noon, as they lied and said the trucker is at the warehouse at 10 AM and constantly kept making false statements (I confirmed as I would call the warehouse right after hanging up and they would laugh at me) so the delivery didnt arrive until 7 P.M.- it was the biggest waste of money and time and this experience killed all the excitement of the goods.

By the way, they would call and tell me about all these things and not provide any solutions around it except that it would cost extra.  If you are ever thinking about doing business with American Freight Logistics from Brooklyn, do yourself a favor and read the above to know what you're getting yourself into.

Scamming Unnecessary Freight Fees by American Freight Logistics

We got introduced to American Freight Logistics because we opted for a no-hassle ship to door experience from Pakistan (we were okay with paying a little extra for the convenience) but what we got was a series of nightmares from the custom brokers and freight forwarders who go by American Freight Logistics located 837 ave Z brooklyn, NY 11235.

So we had paid all the fees to our door step from Pakistan- Atleast thats what we thought- I was told that if there will be any additional fees, it would be around an extra custom clearances but American Freight Logistics figured the oversees invoice wouldn't hold value and they had free reigns on adding charges as they pleased.

My goods arrived into the states on Aug 1st 2016, the invoice was not sent until the goods arrived into Houston.  They were suppose to have arrived into Houston on the 8/22 which is what I was told by AFL.  I didn't hear from them on that day so I sent an Email ( no response from them) and later followed up with a call.  This invoice should've been given to me prior since there are only 4 free days of storage. which leads to another issue that we will cover after the wonderful invlice.

Here is the first invoice they sent 8/23 and requested immediate payment for all the bogus charges.

After 2 days, when they realized this might've been an over stretch (and speaking to my shippers in Pakistan), they decided to send another invoice that removed some of these charges.   The best thing Sarah from American Freight Logistics said through out this was that they need 24-48 hours prior to payment to process thus reducing the number of free days I had of storage.  Also, if this is what you do for a living, wouldn't you already have the next steps lined up to go?  they run their operations as if they are in Pakistan and tell me that "this is America, not Pakistan".

The invoice at this point shrunk to half.  American Freight Logistics are full of crooks or what?  Also, they would not provide any invoices for this additional custom charges and fees that i was requested to pay for.  Also, they needed this money yesterday to make the process happen (atleast thats what they told me)

Even though their site says, they accept money via credit card and paypal, their invoice clearly states otherwise and after paying the invoice in full within an hour (without any proof of these charges) I still didn't know when I would get my stuff.

I called around to more well-known custom brokers and they all said that the charges would not be more than $200 if additional clearance is needed.  And that too should be split based on how many share the container.

To this day, I have been calling and emailing them to facilitate proof of this cost and they have failed to respond to any of my emails or return my calls.  Thieves generally dodge those who they steal from, American Freight Logistics is no different.

Beware of American Freight Logistics- 837 ave Z brooklyn, NY 11235

Beware: American Freight Logistics- Scam Artist with a very generic name to fool the masses.

this is their URL:
http://www.americanfreightlogistic.com/

So its a small shop run by mainly 2 people who pressure you into time crunches and require payments be made directly into their Chase bank Account.  They will first begin by sending you a ridiculous invoice which will make your head spin and then follow up with a much lesser invoice and request for immediate payment or face paying penalties for the delay.

Meet Sarah with American Freight Logistics (No she does not have a last name)  She is the monotone voice of American Freight and Logistics and when she doesn't know something she will tell you , "I don't know, someone will have to pay for this"   and still wont provide you with a solution or give you surety that things will be okay.

Meet Khalid with American Freight Logistics, This man is interesting because he loves to say "This is America, not Pakistan things work differently here".  He is apparently the owner of American Freight Logistics and it's very difficult to get a hold of him through Sarah, however if you call the 800 number on their site, he will answer right away.  :)

What you should know before you decide to bring items over from Pakistan to USA

There were many things we wished we knew before and figured this would be the best place to share some of the common mistakes we took and how you can avoid them too.

First off, keep in mind that the items are coming from Pakistan thus there will be many leaks (unless you have the correct sources there).

1. Selecting Packers and Custom Freight Brokers
when you select a packer and shipper in pakistan, try to visit there facility to make sure you know what you will be getting and how it will arrive into the states.  Also, make sure it arrives to a port closest to you (regardless of them saying that everything must go thru new york).

2. Take Pictures of the items before it was picked up

3.Once everything is packed and in Freight Carts- Make sure you have someone go in and measure the crates to confirm the CBM.   We got screwed here as we skipped this step and were charged for 10 CBM when the items were only 7 CBM  (that's roughly around $700 additional)

4. Make sure there is insurance on the items and in the invoice.

5. Most important, get everything in writing.  Our shipper came from a family reference and talked a really good & honest game  so we believed and respected him.  We found out the truth later.

6. Lastly, get the vessel name and container number from the custom broker there and DO NOT allow them to pick a broker in USA- we had a nightmare with this.

7. Do a search on Google, and find a customs broker in the states for custom clearance and transportation options.  Please note that if you have household items, make sure that the transporter is okay with delivering to a residence.

8. Verify all is well and Enjoy your memories from back home!

I will go into details about the nightmares and issues we faced along with who and what to avoid in my other posts.
